iEarth Short seminar: Social sciences and geosciences - a match made in heaven?

The Department of Geosciences and iEarth have the pleasure of inviting you to a short seminar on Tuesday the 30/4. There will be an introductory talk at 9.15 (Aud II, Geologibygningen), followed by mingling and a workshop from 10.15-12.00 (Mellomrommet 102, Geologibygningen).

The seminar is an invitation and call to collaboration between social sciences and geosciences in education and research.

Andrew Folkard, a geophysicist turned geographer at the University of Lancaster, U.K., will address the “why” and the “how” by sharing his experiences of integrative natural-social science teaching. In the workshop, we will focus on identifying possibilities for and the practical steps to initiate such collaborations in our courses.

Can this really be a way to improve student recruitment, retention, education relevance and trigger new research collaborations? Join the seminar to find out!

This invitation is sent to staff and students at Human geography and Geosciences, but all who are interested are equally welcome! The presentation will be streamed on Zoom. No registration required!

Best regards

Thomas Barnes, Mattias and Kristian, iEarth-UiO
