GEOHYD Lunch Seminar: Automatic boulder detection and boulder field properties: Techniques and practical applications

Welcome to our GEOHYD Lunch Seminar Friday 9th of February @ 12:15 in Aud. 1, Geology building or via videolink using Zoom. The seminar is held by Sergei Medvedev (VBER) and Dmitry Zastrozhnov (UiO and VBER).

Seminar by Sergei Medvedev (VBER) and Dmitry Zastrozhnov (UiO and VBER):

Automatic boulder detection and boulder field properties: Techniques and practical applications

Abstract: Concentration, morphometries, and fabrics of boulders serve as crucial parameters for analyzing past extreme environmental events. Recent advancements in drone technologies enable extensive coverage and detailed three-dimensional representations of boulder population, facilitating comprehensive morphometric and statistical analyses. In our project, we are examining the "Stone Garden," a large boulder field in the Altai Mountains with over 10 thousand boulders. It serves as an ideal location to test various techniques for detection and analysis including neural network and GIS methods.

The talk is in Aud 1 in the Geology Building. It is also possible to follow at Zoom.

Videolink to the lecture will be sent to the e-mail list alle@geo and geohyd-info@geo. If you want to subscribe to the geohyd-info@geo list send an email to Anita.

About the seminar
