Seminar by Matthias Huss, Professor of Glasiology, Department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering, ETH Zürich.
"Global-scale hydrological response to future glacier mass loss"
Abstract:
Glaciers are an important element of the hydrological regime. Their anticipated retreat over the next decade will, however, entail substantial changes in water yield in some basins. In a large-scale perspective, model results for the future changes in water runoff in all major glacierized basins worldwide will be given, with a focus on the timing of peak water from glaciers, seasonal changes and the impact on actual water availability in large streams.
