Abstract:
First, I will explore the future of (primarily Arctic) sea ice in response to the changing climate of our planet. This analysis will be based on observations, conceptual understanding and large-scale models. Second, I will explore what we can learn from this analysis about the various tools we have available for studying the Earth System, and why potentially, we are sometimes setting the wrong priorities in developing them further.
