Successful study visit by students from Oslo interested in geology and geophysics.

Dedicated students in their final year of Elvebakken High School  visited the University of Oslo, Department of GeoScience. Where three of our Master students gave them an insight in the study of geology and geophysics and the job opertunities that come with this line of research.

On the 29. April UiO Geo-science department had the pleasure of 12 enthusiastic students with their teacher Ragnhild Anderssen Myhre. Having spent the morning at NVE as part of their fagdag, they headed over to us to find out what was required to take a bachelor program. «R» vias «S» maths was a hot topic.

As of last year, Geology was allowed by the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences to drop «R» maths in favour of «S» maths, but Geophysics still requires «R». After a short presentation from Kristian one of our many student councillors this topic was put to rest.

Next on the program was Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS), 3 of our master students who will submit their dissertation the year on CCS came to present. After a brief introduction to Norway’s investment in this climate driven technology, Elvebakken’s dynamic Geology student had much to ask. Keeping our Master grades on their toes.

The visit ended with a brief walk through of the department, with a particular focus on facilities, one of our favourites being the drone lab.

“Who gets to fly Drone? I was ask”

Just about everyone who looks to take Geology will fly a drone. 😊
