NCAS Atmospheric Measurement Summer School

The next Atmospheric Measurement Summer School will take place at the Arran Outdoor Centre in Lamlash from Monday 11th to Friday 22th May 2020.

This practical course is designed for PhD and Image may contain: Telecommunications engineering, Antenna, Technology.early career scientists who want to gain confidence, experience and in-depth knowledge about atmospheric science fieldwork. With support from experienced field scientists including Professor Stephen Mobbs, Professor Geraint Vaughan, Dr Barbara Brooks and Dr Ryan Neely you will develop the skills needed to plan and execute the highest quality fieldwork. The NCAS Atmospheric Measurement Summer School focuses on the core skills researchers need to achieve excellence in practical fieldwork Our comprehensive programme will challenge you to:

  • use synoptic charts and other data to give daily weather forecasts
  • profile the atmosphere using radiosondes and surface measurements on a mountain
  • log data and work with instruments in remote locations
  • investigate atmospheric trace gases and aerosols
