LATICE seminar: Polar Regions in the Earth System (PolarRES) research project

In the next LATICE seminar on Wednesday 21 April, Priscilla Mooney (NORCE) will present the recently funded H2020 project "Polar Regions in the Earth System".

PolarRES: Polar Regions in the Earth System

Polar climates in a global context remains poorly understood and thus climate change projections in the Polar regions have large uncertainties which hampers mitigation and adaptation efforts. PolarRES is an upcoming project funded by the European Commission under the Horizon 2020 programme. Scheduled to start in September 2021, PolarRES will zoom into the climate of both Polar regions with state-of the-art regional climate models (RCMs), run at unprecedented resolutions, to investigate the influence of projected changes in the global circulation on the climate of the Arctic and Antarctic. In this presentation, I will introduce the project and the innovative approaches that will be used to accomplish this.

Speaker: Priscilla Mooney (NORCE)
