We continue our seminars with Iris Mužić from CICERO. This talk will be a hybrid event after a while, so we are excited to see many of you physically on the 1st of June, 2022 at 14:15 at Aud II of the Geology building.

Iris' talk will be about "CICERO projects on land-atmosphere-climate interactions". A short description about her presentation :

A growing number of studies emphasize the relevance of land surface properties (land cover, terrain, and soil texture) to the climate system. The widely recognized two-way connection between land conditions and atmospheric processes illustrates that changes on land have the capacity to modify atmospheric variables such as temperature and rainfall at different spatial scales. Changes in land conditions can also affect the likelihood, intensity and duration of extreme events, including heatwaves.
This talk will provide an overview of CICERO’s recent and ongoing work related to the interlinkages between land and atmosphere processes focusing on coupled climate models, vegetation, snow, heatwaves, land management, aerosols, wildfires, and associated risk framework.
