LISFLOOD is a spatially distributed model simulating hydrologic processes on several land use/cover classes, including snow accumulation and melt, canopy interception, evapotranspiration, infiltration, soil moisture redistribution, surface and subsurface runoff, groundwater, and discharge routing for river channels and floodplains. It can also simulate the effects of lakes, reservoirs and water abstractions.
LISFLOOD has been developed to be applied in catchments of any size to address a variety of scientific and operational questions, including
- Flood simulation and forecasting,
- Water resources studies at catchment scale,
- Climate and land-use change impacts on hydrology and water resources,
- Effects of river regulation and water efficiency measures.
LISFLOOD software is open-source and written in Python. Model documentation, user guide and source code are available at LISFLOOD's homepage.
