Event description

 

Lake outburst on June 28, 1894. The ice dammed lake had a volume of 1 Mio m³. The flood washed 17 bridges, some road sections and agricultural land away.

Remarks

 

After the 1818 disaster in the valley of Bagnes all houses were built in safe distance to the Dranse. That`s why no human lifes were lost.
