Impacts of a sea-ice free Arctic on oceanic biogeochemical fluxes - future threat to the ozone layer

Motivation: Impacts of a sea-ice-free Arctic on oceanic biogeochemical fluxes - future threat to the ozone layer?

Data:

  • Observations: Ship campaign measurements of surface water and atmospheric halocarbon concentrations (CHBr3 bromoform), SST, SSS, wind
  • Model: NorESM model, present-day and future projections

Method:

  • Data analysis: Comparison between model and observation data for the present and analysis of future projections.
  • Own model experiments with NorESM may also be possible.

Questions:

  • How is the oceanic halocarbon production changing in a future climate in a sea ice-free Arctic?
  • What are the impacts on ozone and radiation?
