Ass. prof. Ian Bourg from Princeton University will be visiting us on June 17th, to give a seminar on: "Clay, water, and salt: Controls on the hydrology and mechanics of fine-grained soils and sedimentary rocks".
Earthquakes in the lower continental crust
Xiaojiao Zheng at the Department of Geosciences will be defending her dissertation: Reaction-induced fracturing in confined systems
Xiaojiao Zheng at the Department of Geosciences will defend the thesis:

for the degree of PhD.
Patrick Huber from Hamburg University of Technology will give a talk on the topic: "Soft Matter in Nanoporous Media: From Nanoscale Physics to Metamaterials' Science".
There will be an kick-off meeting for the EarthFlows research group the 14th of February. All participants in the EarthFlows research group and other invited guests are welcome.
Faban Barras will be visiting us from Ecole polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL). He will be giving a presentation with the title "Onset of sliding along frictional interfaces: From microcontacts rejuvenation to the energetics of earthquake rupture"
Danny Caballero is from Michigan State University, and is also affiliated with CCSE at UiO. His talk will be on the integration of numerical computation in physics education.
