Hylleraas Seminar, Susanne Viefers

Hylleraas Friday seminar, hosted in Oslo

Speaker: Susanne Viefers

Title: Quantum technology and Low-dimensional physics

Abstract: This talk consists of two, somewhat disconnected, parts. The first part is an introduction to Quantum Technology — science, politics and the situation in Norway. The second part concerns quantum physics in low-dimensional systems -- a long standing research field at the physics department in Oslo. There is a link between this field and quantum technology, via the concept "topological quantum computing”.

Susanne Viefers is a professor at The Department of Physics at the University of Oslo. She is a PI of the project "Topological quantum phenomena in low dimensional systems", funded by the Norwegian research council.

The Hylleraas seminars alternate between Oslo (room Desolation Row) and Tromsø (room C302), and are broadcasted by video conference to the other place. It is possible to follow the seminars externally upon request.
