Deputy director Kenneth Ruud elected vice president

Deputy directory of the Hylleraas Centre, Kenneth Ruud, was recently elected as the new vice president and leader of the Natural Sciences Division of the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters for the period 2020-2022.

The Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters was founded in 1857 and is an independent, national organisation encompassing all scientific disciplines and has a total of 910 members elected based on their contribution to science. The Academy administers the Kavli prizes and the Abel prize in mathematics. The academy is also responsible for The Academy Teacher of the year prize, The Fridtjof Nansen reward for outstanding research (awarded to Hylleraas director Trygve Helgaker in 2019) and The Academy's Prize for Outstanding Research in the Humanities and Social Sciences.
