The PhD candidates
Michael Augello graduated from the University of Bologna, Italy, with a Master's degree in Methodology of Synthesis and Bioorganic Chemistry. He is working towards his doctorate on the topic "Computational Engineering of Iron-Metalated MOFs for the Catalytic Oxidation of Light Alkanes" under the supervision of Res. Prof. David Balcells, PI of RT7. His studies on multiscale modeling will be extended under the co-supervision of Prof. Blaz Likozar (NIC, Slovenia).
Flavie Le Rai graduated from an Erasmus Mundus master program on materials science in France, Poland, and Italy. Flavie is currently doing her PhD between experimental X-ray spectroscopy, under the main supervision of Prof. Elisa Borfecchia (University of Torino, Italy), and machine learning, under the co-supervision of Res. Prof. David Balcells, PI of RT7.
The DEMO project
The DEMO project is a large international consortium supported by the EU Doctoral Network program. The main focus of the project is on the development of new C-H activation catalysts with novel nanoporous materials inspired on enzymes. All successful students in the network will obtain a join PhD degree from two Universities located in different EU countries.
