This prize is awarded to three students annually from the university, for an outstanding master thesis connected to the United Nation's sustainability goals. This year was the first time a student from the science faculty won!
Clare Andvik wrote about environmental contaminants in fish and seal-eating killer whales from Norway. She found much higher levels of contaminants in seal-eating killer whales, pushing them above a range of thresholds for possible health effects. This is relevant for sustainability goal 14: Life below water, and the goal of reducing marine pollution.
Clare and Katrine were invited to a celebratory dinner with the university rectors in connection with the University's anniversary, and Clare received the award at the university and gave a short presentation of her project with the other two prize winners. We then enjoyed a celebration in the lunch room, with a specially made cake!
