Research interests
My research interests lie on the ecology and evolution of diverse organisms including plants, insects and fungi. I am particularly interested in understanding the processes driving population structure, genetic and ecological divergence as well as demographic history using genetic and genomic data. I am currently involved in the “IGran” project, which aim is to explore the ecology and evolutionary history of Lophodermium piceae, a common endophytic fungus associated with spruce. To better understand the interaction of the fungus with its host, I will use RAD sequencing to examine the role of geography, environmental factors and demographic history in shaping the genetic divergence and structure of European populations of the fungus, whose host recently experienced repeated bottlenecks during the last glaciations.
