EVOGENE Seminar: Morten Kjos

Genetic screens for antibiotic resistance determinants in Staphylococcus aureus using CRISPR interference libraries.

Morten Kjos is Associate Professor at NMBU

Staphylococcus aureus, a common human and animal pathogen, poses significant challenges due to its versatile virulence properties and ability to develop resistance against commonly used antibiotics. In our work, we aim to decipher molecular mechanisms of antibiotic resistance and identify novel treatment and prevention options against S. aureus. In this talk, I will discuss how we develop and use genome-wide CRISPR interference libraries in Staphylococcus aureus, and how we use this technique as a starting point to identify genes and mechanisms affecting antibiotic susceptibility.
