Lena has been fascinated by the new practices and societal changes associated with digitalisation. Her research projects often focus on ethical consequences and philosophical aspects of digital transformation and digital innovation. Most of her research so far has been qualitative, relying upon case-based evidence analyzed from an interpretive perspective.

She has published her research in journals such as Journal of Strategic Information Systems, Journal of Management Information Systems, AIS Transactions on Human-Computer Interaction, as well as international conferences, for example, International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS), European Conference on Information Systems (ECIS), and Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences (HICSS).

She is the program director for bachelor  Informatikk: digital økonomi og ledelse and master Digital Economy and Leadership  and teaches INEC1821 – Digital økonomi, organisering og ledelse.
