Welcome to the group, Håvard

We welcome our new PhD research fellow Håvard Arnestad!

I graduated from NTNU this summer with an MSc in engineering physics, specializing in acoustics. My master’s thesis was written on the topic of ultrasonic waves in plates (Lamb waves), with the aim to efficiently model systems of two coupled and non-parallel plates. The application in mind was cement evaluation behind two nested steel pipes in an oil well, and the project was supervised by Erlend Magnus Viggen (NTNU/CIUS).
Other experiences include internships at CERN where I investigated vibrations in superconducting magnets, and at Cisco where the work revolved around acoustics/audio processing. As my interests cover most areas related to acoustics, DSP, data science, and numerical modeling, pursuing a PhD in the DSB group is a natural choice. Here I will be working on general beamforming. I am excited to be here and eager to really get going!
