DSB Seminar: Research on underwater acoustic propagation models, localization and communication systems

The underwater medium is usually regarded as one of the most difficult communication channels, as it is characterized by long propagation delays, strong multipath at the receiver, temporal variability and fading, among other effects. Due to all these phenomena, using any kind of signal transmitted underwater, such as the acoustic waves commonly used for underwater localization and communication systems, is a challenging endeavor. This presentation summarizes the research conducted by the author on these topics during his previous appointments as a Ph.D. student at the University of Alcalá (Spain), and as a postdoctoral researcher at the Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology (Japan).
