Abstract
The talk will focus on discourse analysis, particularly inspired by the French historian Michel Foucault and his work around the “archaeological” approach to the history of thought / knowledge.
Egil Øvrelid will give a brief historical backdrop on discourse analysis / discourse theory, and reflect on how this can be particularly relevant in the field of Information systems research. In doing so, he will reflect on the origin of Foucault's discourse analysis and its inspirations. He will discuss how he has used these ideas in the context of his own research
Egil Øvrelid is a post-doctoral researcher at the section for Digitalization, department of informatics university of Oslo. He defended his PhD thesis on Digital Innovation in the Health Sector in Norway, and has worked in the IT industry developing patient records for hospitals
