Abstract
Drawing on a framework of competencies for sustainable development previously outlined by UNESCO, the aim of this center is to translate and adapt this framework for the use in health professional education.
Our basic assumption is that we by fostering these key competencies can prepare future health professionals for making sustainable evidence-based decisions on different levels of health care. SHE will develop and test educational modules and pedagogical methods, and pilot new models for evidence-based decision-making inspired by the SDGs.
About
Professor Eivind Engebretsen is a professor of interdisciplinary health science (with emphasis on the philosophy of science) at the University of Oslo. He is currently the Vice-Dean for Postgraduate Studies at the Faculty of Medicine. He has pioneered new approaches to the study of the interfaces of political ideologies (including the SDGs) and knowledge production in healthcare drawing on political philosophy and discourse analysis. His work has been awarded with fellowship from the Centre for Advanced Study at the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters. In 2019, he was asked to lead the development of a WHO report on the cultural contexts of health and knowledge translation.
