Power shutdown July 2nd and 3rd, 2018

IMPORTANT! The entire Ole-Johan Dahls building will be closed on Monday 2nd and Tuesday 3rd of July 2018 due to power shutdown.

The Estate Department will carry out required service and maintenance on all electrical fuses in every building at UiO. In order to perform this operation, it is necessary to close Ole-Johan Dahls building for two entire days.

Service and maintenance of fuses

The maintenance requires power shutdown. The Estate Department is working during the summer to cause least disadvantage for the employees and students.

Why?

The main control of the electrical system has revealed that there are or may be faults on both ground fault and circuit breakers. By closing the building and shut down the power, the electricians can maintain and possibly replace the equipment immediately to avoid additional shut downs for replacement of defective switches.

Employees - consequences

  • No one will be allowed to enter the building, and security will guard the entrances.
  • Please turn off your office computer before your leave for your holiday or leave the office on June 29th. This measure prevents computer errors when the power is switched off or on.
  • The building will open on July 3rd at 17:00.

Work from home

  • NB! When the power is gone, you will not be able to connect to your office computer from an external location using Remote Desktop.
If you need access to files, programs, and disks you have mounted locally on the office machine, you can move them to your home area (M: area).
  • The home disk (M:) is your storage area on the UiO server. Use UiO Programkiosk to access your home disk (M:) or network disk and all of the UiO internal services. More about access from home and away.
  • OneDrive for Business is the storage solution in Office 365, and is UiO's preferred solution for storing, sharing and synchronizing your files.

Equipment - consequences

  • The Department maps out critical user equipment in advance.
  • User equipment should be shut down.
  • If reported in due time, the Department assists with user equipment depending on continuous power.

Garage

We are awaiting response from The Estate Department whether the garage is affected by the power shutdown.
