Abstract:
The energy sector is evolving with advanced ICT techniques that record, collect, process, and transfer data to promote services and profits. Privacy issues emerge as personal data might be leaked, intentionally or unintentionally, which risks the disclosure of individual private life. This presentation introduces how privacy activities are regulated in the energy sector in the EU. It briefs the main regulatory provisions the energy practitioners can follow, including obligations, rights, and organizational structure in energy privacy practice. Reflections and future research are also implied to promote legislative progress regarding data-related issues in the energy sector.
