Abstract: In this reading seminar, we will start with an overview of cross-country comparison of the prospect of P2P energy trading across Europe. Following this general overview, we will dive deeper into several predictor factors that may influence individuals’ intention to participate in P2P energy trading. In particular, we will focus on the role of attitude, autarky and subjective norm, as these factors are found to be the strongest predictors in the adoption of renewable energy resources. We will then take a look closer into what researchers have found so far in terms of trading preferences and decision-making strategies in P2P energy trading. Lastly, as briefly discussed in our previous meeting, perhaps we should not limit ourselves to P2P energy trading and explore other potential forms of transactive energy management that may offer similar or more benefits to individuals, society and the environment. Therefore, we will end the presentation with a review of the core differences between P2P, CSC (Community Self-Consumption) and Transactive Energy (TE) markets in terms of social and economic value, as well as factors that may influence that uptake and success of these three models.
