A paper submitted to the 6th Linguistic Annotation Workshop at the 2012 conference of the Association for Computational Linguistics was selected by the programme committee as the winner of a Special Challenge, “to promote the use and collaborative development of open, shared resources, and to identify and promote best practices for annotation interoperability”.

WeSearch project members presented the best performing system at the 2012 Shared Task on Resolving the Scope and Focus of Negation of the First Joint Conference on Lexical and Computational Semantics (*SEM).

Time and place: , Hankø

MRS corroboration meeting was held at Hankø, bringing together international collaborators who are experts in the MRS semantic formalism which the WeSearch project is using as a representation format. Many fruitful discussions left us all with both a better understanding of the decisions behind the current state of affairs, and produced some concrete directions for work to be considered before the next meeting.

WeSearch project members are presented with the best paper award at the Fourth International Symposium on Languages in Biology and Medicine.

Off-site research meeting was held at Fefor, bringing some of our collaborators together for the first time. A productive and inspiring scientific program through the day was complemented by the less structured evening activities, allowing project members to get to know each other.
