Research Sections

The Department of Informatics is organized with four research sections divided into different research groups that covers a broad range of disciplines within informatics.

Digital infrastructure and security

Within communications everything from transmission of packets (both on wired and wireless links) to high level programs that facilitate viable and secure communication between applications are covered. Within security the research spans a wide area of themes within information security and cyber security.

Digitalization

The section for Digitalisation aims at producing and disseminating new knowledge on digital innovation, digital design, digital entrepreneurship, as well as the role of design in the sustainability of digital artefacts. Our research emphasizes the socio-technical complexity of digitalization and the individual, organizational and societal consequences of such processes. 

Machine Learning

Hullbånd med teksten Forskning i blå boks.Machine learning enables computers to detect statistical regularities in potentially very large volumes of observed data, to derive generalizations and make predictions for previously unseen inputs. The Section comprises five specialized research groups, with renowned expertise in bio-medical informatics, image and signal processing, language technologies, nanoelectronics, and robotics. 

Programming
