The PhD defence will be partially digital, in Kristen Nygaards sal (5370), Ole-Johan Dahls hus and streamed directly using Zoom. The host of the session will moderate the technicalities while the chair of the defence will moderate the disputation.
Ex auditorio questions: the chair of the defence will invite the attending audience at Kristen Nygaards sal to ask ex auditorio questions.
Trial lecture
"Super resolution for ultrasound medical imaging"
Time and place: August 31, 2023 11:15 AM, Kristen Nygaards sal (5370), Ole-Johan Dahls hus/ Zoom
Main research findings
Small point targets can be difficult to detect in medical ultrasound images, but they are important in applications such as imaging of breast microcalcifications, kidney stones, and point tracking. The thesis explores how to enhance and detect point scatterers. It introduces new multilook techniques that optimize the spatial frequency spectrum of the image. Modern software methods affect the image statistics and the point detectability. The thesis presents an objective methodology for assessing the detection performance of point scatterers.
