I'm a PhD researcher currently working on the pedagogy and didactics of computing and programming. There are several principles that could be followed in order to achieve student learning in the field of programming – currently I am testing some of this principles out in practice with collaborating lower secondary schools in the Oslo region.
In 2020, the Norwegian government introduced programming as a topic to be taught within the mathematics subject. This provides many a challenge for both the students and the teachers: how does one practically introduce and teach programming within another subject such as mathematics? How alike are mathematics and programming really, and can the two of them be intertwined in a productive manner? I hope to answer these and many more questions in the following years. My current research project involves observing and video recording lessons with pre-prepared contents over two month period, where mathematics and programming are taught intertwined.
I am also collaborating with Utdanningsforbundet by providing courses in teaching programming for teachers and teacher students around Norway.
