There are many directions that inquiry into this space can take: from (more) democratic technology development to studying the democratic usage of technology or embedding democratic values into technologies. I can formulate a task, or you can develop your interests in this domain under the umbrella of responsible innovation related to democracy. The scholarly interest of your thesis should be pertinent to one of these aims: 1) identify ways in which new forms of digitalization and technologies are rationalized, designed, and implemented and the effects these have on democracy; and 2) how could design and its political perspectives establish more holistic and actionable guiding principles to create technologies that nurture a plurality of participatory democratic practices.
