Deletion of older user data

Mandatory assignments older than two years are routinely deleted from Devilry each semester.

Why is my user data deleted?

Devilry is a dedicated delivery and feedback system used for mandatory assignment at The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at UiO. The introduction of General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) has put harder limitation on how long user data can be stored. For Devilry specifically, the user data that has to be deleted include users' full names and UiO email address, users' uploaded assignments and comments, and the results, scores and feedback provided in Devilry.

Whether a student has passed all mandatory assignments in a course is stored in The Common Student System (No.: Felles studentsystem, FS). Under some conditions students could be allowed to re-use their results from a previous semester, and user data is therefore stored in Devilry for as long - two years (four semesters).

Note: the re-use of mandatory assignment results is regulated by each department. Please see the guidelines for the department running your course:

How often is data deleted?

Older user data will be deleted about a month into a new semester, some time during February and September.

  • Ie: in February, data from the Fall a little more than two years back will be deleted.

How can I store my data?

Choose the student role once you're logged in, click thought each assignment found under "Your courses".

  • The files you uploaded can the downloaded in a archive file by clicking "Download: <first/second/etc> deadline". Overwritten files (uploads with the same name as existing files) can be found in a directory with older files in the archive file.
  • If you also would like to keep the feedback and other comments that can easily be stored by using the "Save as PDF" option of your web browser's print function.
