Aim and objectives
The aim of EMPOWER is to understand and shape the role of sustainable batteries for mobility in enabling a future net-zero Norwegian energy system.
To meet this aim, EMPOWER has four objectives:

Develop a common understanding and definition of sustainable batteries in mobility across disciplines.

Recognise how the defined sustainability concept can be represented and achieved in technology, regulations, decisions around EV battery production and consumption as well as renewable energy systems.

Determine how the inclusion of this interdisciplinary set of criteria for the sustainability of EV batteries impacts the design of net-zero energy systems.

Co-design teaching materials and methods for young people (13-19 years) and early career researchers to prepare them for interdisciplinary collaboration needed to develop further sustainable knowledge, policies, and practices concerning EV batteries.
