Fire safety

All employees and students at the Department of Chemistry shall have fire safety training. B.Sc. and M.Sc. students have a fire safety course through the faculty. A fire safety course for Ph.D. students, employees and guest researchers is usually offered twice a year, in January/February and August/September.

Rules for electrical equipment

Recent events at UiO have led to stricter regulations for the use of electrical equipment:

  • Kitchens must be fitted with fixed timers for the use of electrical equipment.
  • Coffee makers, kettles, cooking plates, microwave ovens and other electrical equipment must only be used in defined kitchens and break areas (not in offices). The EA is responsible for the installation of the fixed timer.
  • Use of electrical equipment must be limited to kitchens and laboratories.
