Todays seminar
The seminar is the second department seminar this year and is held by Prof. Joel Sussman (Weizmann Institute of Science). He is studying the 3D structure/function of nervous system proteins, such as acetylcholinesterase (AChE), cholinesterase-like adhesion molecules (CLAMs), β-glucosidase, β-secretase, paraoxonase and intrinsically disordered proteins.
Although his research is curiosity driven, the findings may impact the treatment of neurological disorders, including Alzheimer's disease and autism.

Lecture, coffee and cake
All department seminar are open for all. The seminars are particularly interesting for student and academic staff.
Short presentation of the department seminars
Our department seminar is a social and educational event, and we try to include all people from our department.
We start in the cantina for coffee and cakes at 14.15 and move into the auditorium for the lecture around 14.25-14.30.
The presentation should be approximately 30 minutes. There will be time for discussions after the presentation. The audience will be both students and employees at the department of Chemistry, with various chemistry backgrounds.
Some introduction to your field of expertise is therefore needed to make sure people from a completely different brand of chemistry can follow.
