What is it all about?
The event is an informal meeting place for students to know more about work opportunities. The purpose of the event is to give you as a student an insight into some of the many job opportunities that exist with a degree from the Department of Chemistry.
Program April the 30th 2024
We are visited by two people graduated from the Institute of Chemistry and are now working as scientists in academia. They will talk about their journey from completing their degree at UiO and their job today. Their phocus will be:
What opportunities and challenges does temporary employment in academia provide?
Welcome
We meet in the afternoon after a day with studies. The event starts with short lectures and ends with networking and some snacks and refreshments.

- Language: The event is partly in Norwegian and partly in English.
Meet the presenters
Øystein Fjellvåg from the Institute for Energy Technology (IFE).
Øystein is a researcher at the Institute for Energy Technology.
He focuses on energy materials for hydrogen storage and batteries. In addition, he works with magnetism in low-dimensional systems. Much of his work is supported by scattering techniques at synchrotron and neutron sources.
Evgeniy Redekop from the Centre for Materials Science and Nanotechnology (SMN).
Evgeniy is currently a researcher in the Catalysis Section at the Department of Chemistry, Centre for Materials Science and Nanotechnology. He holds a PhD degree in Energy, Environmental, and Chemical Engineering.
Since obtaining his doctorate in 2011, he had a decade-long international career as a scientist and an educator focusing on heterogeneous catalysis and chemical kinetics. In his talk, I will highlight the joys and challenges that he has encountered on this path in a hope to help young generations to form a more realistic view of academia and, perhaps, motivate their next adventure.
