Meet the presenters

Magnhild Solum from Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace Magnhild Solum, Portrait

Magnhild is a Manufacturing Engineer at Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace (KDA). She is responsible for chemical processing.

Magnhild about her posisition at KDA and topic of her presentation:

"My role in this is to ensure that the parts are processed as specified by our customer. This includes interpreting specifications, writing documents that operators need to perform the job, ensuring all required tests are conducted, and evaluating deviations in the processes. The processes have very stringent requirements. Proper execution of operations during production is necessary, and accurate documentation is crucial.

A significant part of my job is therefore to prepare for, conduct, and respond to questions during inspections."

Monika Amundsen from Norsk Stål AS Monika Solum, portrait

Monika is a Product Manager at Norsk Stål. She is responsible for products that Norsk Stål resells to Norwegian and some international customers.

Monika about her posisition at KDA and topic of her presentation:

"In this job, I apply my academic and interpersonal experiences from the University of Oslo. I would specifically highlight that the master's projects are conducted within a research group, which not only provides academic competence but also experience in working within an academic environment.

Entering the market side of the industry with a strong understanding of material properties has proven to be a significant advantage in negotiations and in meetings with and evaluations of suppliers. The steel industry is currently undergoing a significant transformation. In short, steel has traditionally been produced using coal to reduce iron ore to metallic iron, which results in large emissions. How will the industry Norsk Stål AS meet the challenge? Is there enough green electric energy available?"
