Running a relatively large thin film laboratory requires a balanced infrastructure. The majority of this is well integrated in the current thin film activities and routinely used for every deposition. In addition to this, several non-routine techniques are near at hand in the same building. We also use more exotic techniques through collaboration with local and remote research groups.

Our current local instrument park includes techniques like:

  • ALD reactors (4 x F120 Sat design, 1 x TFS500, 1 x TFS200, home made powder reactor, home made high temperature reactor, a micro-ALD reactor). Capable of using most types of precursors and reactants like ozone, CO2, N2O, etc. We have also capabilities of performing depositions under influence of electric or magnetic fields.
  • Schlenk lines for synthesis of precursors
  • Application of in situ techniques like QCM, conductivity measurements, and thermopile.
  • XRD techniques: XRD, GIXRD, XRR, reciprocal space map, rocking curve, phi-scan etc.
  • AFM (tapping, contact, MFM, ferroelectric characterisation).
  • Nanoscratch
  • UV-Vis-NIR, FTIR, Photoluminescence, spectroscopic ellipsometry
  • 4-point, Hall, IV
  • PPMS
