Sixth Nafuma Seminar, Autumn 2017

The sixth NAFUMA seminar will be presented by our new researcher Julia Wind.

After intense studies at the University of Vienna and a brilliant PhD career at the University of Sydney, Julia has joined the NAFUMA group since October. Her academic background spans from DFT and molecular dynamics calculations to crystallography and neutron scattering (diffraction, spectroscopy - INS & QENS) experiments and, within the battery sub-group, she will apply her knowledge and skills to advance the research on solid state ionic conduction (Li, Na, O, H) and their structure-property relationships.

This Friday Julia will talk on "A combined experimental and computational approach to understanding and developing new solid-state ionic conductors"

Abstract

After a very basic introduction to INS and QENS, Julia will explain how, based on pure δ-Bi2O3 as a simple model system, QENS analysis can be extended to purely coherent scatterers. Finishing up with some insights we gained on the atomic scale conduction mechanisms by QENS in some more complex bismuth oxide-based oxide ionic conductors.

Counting on your full participation!
