Chinese experts on Energy visiting University of Oslo

On invitation from UiO Energy the Director of Strategy and Planning Department Liu Qiang (NCSC/NDRC) and  Prof Xu Qinhua (Renmin University of China) will Sept 14-15 participate and give talks at the 5th CREE- workshop and on Sept 16 be visiting research institutions on economy/energy in the Oslo- area.

The Program

5th CREE-Workshop

The idea behind this visit is to mutually present ongoing research activities and discuss scientific issues and to look into areas of common interest for possible future cooperation.The perspectives should be Economy/policy; focusing on low carbon policies, models and scenarios, co-benefits of low carbon/ energy-efficiency/ cost-efficiency/ resource utilization etc

Liu Qiang is responsible for energy and climate strategies, statistics, reports to EEA and others at National Center for Climate Change Strategy and International Cooperation (NCSC/ NDRC). (NDRC; National Development and Reform Commission.) Xu Qinhua is Professor of Strategy and Energy, School of International Studies, and Director of Center for International Energy and Environmental Strategy Studies at Renmin University of China. She has broad experience from energy/energy related research, particularly related to international energy issues.

Following the CREE-workshop Liu and Xu will meet with scientists from CREE-Center at Frisch-Center/UiO, CICEP-Center at CICERO, including participants from Statistics Norway,and ife.

The site visits developed very positive, themes of joint interests was discussed and following up contacts have been established between the institutions visited and the Chinese guests. Particularly there seems to be joint interests in areas as energy modeling and climate and energy policy assessment research,
