Msc. Magnus Moe Nygård at the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, is defending the thesis «Local and average structure in high-entropy alloys and associated metal deuterides» for the degree of Philosophiae Doctor.

Dr. Juho Rousu, Professor in Computer Science, Aalto University, Finland, will present the lecture "Machine Learning of Drug Combination Responses."

October 10 is the World Mental Health Day! In relation to that, UiODoc will host two online events on Zoom in the same week focuing on mental health for PhDs and Postdocs.

First, on October 14, we'll have a talk by the senior adviser Kristine Mollø-Christensen at UiO'S Occupational Health Service. Next up, on October 16, is an interactive event with psychologist Maria Abrahamsen Østhassel, known from her social media accounts @PsyktDeg.

Imposter syndrome probably affects most of us, and can seriously affect our mental health, confidence, and happiness. This talk by Hugo de Boer aims to analyse and relativise imposter syndrome, as well as provide insights to mitigate its effects.

Msc. Jon Austad at the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, is defending the thesis «Theoretical Investigations of Molecular Electronic Structure in a Magnetic Field » for the degree of Philosophiae Doctor.

Dr. Shaun Mahony, Assistant Professor, Biochemistry & Molecular Biology Department, Penn State University, USA, will present the lecture "Using neural networks to characterize the predeterminants of induced transcription factor binding sites."
