At the MN faculty, we have seen many examples of fruitful collaborations between artists and researchers. These collaborations can provide scientists with a fresh look on their own fields of research, be a source of new inspiration and contribute to valuable science communication to a broad audience.

These collaborations often arise based on personal connections, and when the PhD students at the faculty's course in science communication asked about how they could come into contact with artists, we couldn't give them a good answer. We wanted to do something about that, and the answer became the project REAL art. Now we are delighted to announce that the project has received funding from Bergesenstiftelsen and UiO:Life science, and we are good to go!

REAL art is an Artist in Residence program that will facilitate contact between artists and scientists, and provide funding for one artist per semester to work as part of a research group for an extended period of time.

We are now inviting researchers to express their interest in participating. Deadline April 21st! Read more about the project here
