Ragni Piene(UiO): Higher order selfdual toric varieties

Abstract: The notion of higher order dual varieties of a projective variety is a natural generalization of the classical notion of projective duality, replacing tangent spaces by higher order osculating spaces. A variety is said to be (higher order) selfdual if it is isomorphic to its (higher order) dual variety. In this talk I will give geometric and combinatorial characterizations of those equivariant projective toric embeddings that satisfy higher order selfduality. I shall also give several examples and general constructions. This is joint work with Alicia Dickenstein.
