Abstract: Kazhdan's Property (T) is a rigidity property for locally compact groups concerning how they may act on a Hilbert space. In this talk, we explore different generalizations of this property. We will look at analogs of property (T) first for groups acting on Banach spaces and later for C*-algebras and Banach algebras. We are specifically interested in Lp-versions of property (T). This talk is based on recent joint work with Sanaz Pooya.
