Deep Learning's applications have become more and more common in daily life. Its main force is Deep Neural Networks (taking inspiration from biological neural networks), which basically is a parameterised family of functions having a special form allowing efficient computations. To find best parameters, one has to run an iterative optimisation method for a chosen loss function appropriate for the given purpose. Dynamical system helps in that it studies iterations of a selfmap. Semi-algebraic geometry is also helpful in that the functions (like sigmoid, ReLU, max pool, cost functions ...) one sees in commonly used Deep Neural Networks are semi-algebraic. An important feature of practical Deep Neural Networks is that of stochastic processes, which needs be carefully treated e.g. when one uses mini-batches.
In other fields, e.g. Robotics, most of what discussed above also applies.
This conference aims to bring together experts from relevant different fields to have fruitful discussions/collaborations. The speakers include both senior and junior researchers.
The conference consists of both lecture series providing an overview of research fields and research talks which concentrate on more focused topics. It is a mixture between physical and digital means.

Travel information: Dalat is a city in the Central Highlands region in Vietnam. It is about 1500 meters above the sea level. In July, its temperature is usually between 16 - 23 Celsius degrees. It can be easily reached from Ha Noi by air flights, and from Ho Chi Minh city by both air flights and buses. The distance between Dalat airport and the city centre is about 30 km, and there is an airport bus shuttle taking you back and forth for an economic fare.
