Welcome, David, Jonas, and Jakob!

We have three new people in our project this fall: David as postdoc, and Jonas, and Jakob as PhD students. Welcome!

David Jaklitsch

David JaklitschI am from Colombia and I am very happy to join the QOMBINE project this August 2023. My research background is in the field of tensor categories which is the natural framework for the study of topological field theories (TFT's). These are of great interest in the area of topological quantum computing, and I look forward to learn more about their application to this topic within the project.

Last June I defended my PhD thesis in Universität Hamburg, which studied the interaction of duals and pivotal structures with categorical Morita equivalence and some applications to state sum 3d oriented TFT's.

About my hobbies: I am a fan of mixed martial arts (just watching) and I practice boxing. I also Iike to play Starcraft and have a diverse music taste ranging from Punk, Rock’n’Roll, Techno and Drum’n’Bass.

Jonas Eidesen

I am from Haugesund Norway and have a MSc in mathematics from the University of Oslo. My masters thesis was in the field of operator algebras where I wrote about dynamical systems arising from topological graph algebras, under the supervision of Nadia Larsen. Before I started studying mathematics I was a physics student at the University of Bergen, and I am deeply passionate about the interplays between theoretical physics and mathematics. At QOMBINE I get to explore this passion in the form of doing research within the field of quantum error correction. During my stint at QOMBINE I will be supervised by Tron Omland with Eric Bédos and Nadia Larsen as co-supervisors. Outside of mathematics I am passionate about cooking and anything food and drink related.
