USITs file server "hume", which houses a lot of our masters students, is having long-term issues with performance. Some users will experience these issues as the system "hanging" for seconds at a time, in relatively rapid succession throughout the work day.  USIT are aware of the issue are the cause is know, a cleanup-job is running to solve another issue and this cleanup-job is causing the performance hit.

In time the job will finish and performance resume.  If the problem persists we can look at moving users around, contact the sysadmin staff if this is the case.

To test if you may be affected, on one of our Linux machines, enter the following into a terminal followed by the enter key:

df ~

If /uio/hume/ is mentioned in the output, you may be affected by this issue.
