His Majesty the King’s Gold Medal is awarded once every two years to an outstanding young researcher at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, The University of Oslo. Skaugen is awarded the medal for his PhD dissertation "A unified perspective on two-dimensional quantum turbulence and plasticity".
