The Young Research Talent grant is awarded to researchers under 40 who are particularly skillful at what they do, to enhance research that contributes to sustainable solutions in society and the business sector.
Jess Mcbeck was one of 25 talented researchers at the University of Oslo who received the grant. Her project, titled "Emergent networks: Predicting strain localisation and fracture network development", focuses on the dynamics of rock deformation and how large scale localised fractures leading to material failure may emerge from distributed micro-fractures.
Njord is proud and excited to receive the news, and wishes Jess an extra merry Christmas.
