The French Minister of Research and Higher Education visits the Njord Centre

The minister, Sylvie Retailleau, together with the French ambassador in Norway, Florence Robine, visited the Njord centre, on Thursday 18th of April.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss top research and collaborations between UiO and France.

Pro-Rector Åse Gornitzka presented UiO as one of the leading universities in Europe and highlighted several exciting projects and initiatives. Centre director François Renard presented groundbreaking research projects and collaborations with France. He highlighted several joint projects between Njord, PoreLab and French researchers, such as the ERC DIME and BREAK, the INTPART project COLOSSAL, the International Research Project D-FFRACT co-funded by the CNRS, and students training in the framework of the Erasmus+ programme.
 

The meeting continued with discussions on how to further develop and strengthen the collaborations between UiO and French universities, with contributions from UiO researchers Olivier Galland and Annette Cazaubiel.

The minister's visit also included a stop at the experimental laboratories of Porelab and Njord, where she engaged in discussions with our researchers. Marcel Moura presented experiments on the complexity of flow in porous media, while Joanna Dziadkowiec showcased the use of a surface force apparatus. Both are doing research as a part of their own Young Researcher Talent project funded by the Research Council of Norway.

               

 

Overall, the visit was an excellent opportunity to showcase the groundbreaking research and collaborations between Norway and France taking place at Njord and PoreLab.
